Expansion of Blueberry and Raspberry Fields with New Varieties
Spring 2007 witnessed the planting of 3 1/2 acres raspberry plants
in our new field at the northern limit of our property. New varieties
include Prelude (an early ripener), Royalty (purple in color) and Nova (a mid-summer bearing red raspberry).
In Spring 2009 we will be planting 3 1/2 acres of blueberry plants
in our new field to accomodate the increased demand for our pick-your-own fruit customers.

Farmland Preservation
Blue Vista Farm sold it's development rights to the Town of Bayfield as
part of the Town's farmland preservation program. The sale of our
development rights to the Town ensures that the land that is now Blue
Vista Farm will always remain farmland. An easement was placed on the
title restricting non agricultural buildings from being erected or the
land from being subdivided in any way.
A combination of Federal, Town, foundation and landowner contribution
money made this project a reality as well as a commitment of the
Bayfield Regional Conservancy to work with the Town. For more
information about this program contact the Bayfield Regional
Conservancy at www.brcland.org.
